Next to your photographer (wink, wink), choosing your wedding venue may be one of the most important decisions of the wedding planning process. And by important, I mean that it effects so many parts of the day and truly sets the tone for how both you and your guest feel and interact. It’s important to consider both outdoor and indoor spaces (hello, rain plan!), whether or not you need to go off-site for photos (are there beautiful spaces to take portraits right on-site?), the vibe you want in your photos (dark and moody, light and clean?), and how you want you and your guests to feel.

With four different venue spaces to choose from, The Capella offers gorgeous settings for any wedding size! I think my favorite space might be the back of Capella Ballroom which leads into the largest chapel in La Crosse. The gorgeous high ceilings and preserved architecture offer a beautiful alternative if looking for a church-like setting that feels more traditional as opposed to modern. While the venues I list are in no particular order, The Capella was an easy choice for best wedding venues in La Crosse!
The Cargill-Pettibone Mansion is another part of this venue that can be rented for micro weddings, or even as an alternative getting-ready space!

2. The Nature Place Wedding Venue

3. The Greenhouse At Bittersweet Wedding Venue

With the natural light, abundant greenery, and idyllic grounds, The Greenhouse At Bittersweet feels almost whimsical, like something out of a fairy tale! They feature options for both outdoor and indoor ceremonies, a bright and neutral indoor space, and on-site getting ready spaces. It has a barn onsite for smaller events, as well as a farmhouse that you can rent. As an added bonus, you can book your florals directly through the venue (Bittersweet Flower Market). With this space, you won’t need to worry about a rain plain or traveling off-site as it’s truly all-inclusive!

There’s even a rooftop space where you could hold your ceremony! Picture this: You spend the night before your wedding with your girls in the most beautiful suite, get coffee in the morning in The Parlour right downstairs, spend the rest of the morning getting ready together, and then walk down to the riverfront for photos afterward!

5. Woods & Co Weddings + Events Wedding Venue

Woods & Co is the perfect blend of nature and sophistication. Newly opened in 2025, Woods & Co features an exposed cliff wall ceremony area, a beautifully bright and cozy indoor ceremony option, the glasshouse reception room, and an idyllic outdoor social space. They also include gorgeous getting-ready spaces, an outdoor cocktail hour area, and even on-site cabins to complete your weekend. What more could you ask for? Set yourself apart from other weddings you’ve been to in your area by being the first to get married here! If I was to get married this year (instead of almost 4 years ago), this venue would have been my first choice! If only I could plan my wedding day all over again! One of the best decisions we made for our wedding weekend was to rent the on-site cabins at our venue and enjoy a more relaxing experience with our family and friends.

Speaking of unique venues…who would have though you could get married at a ski hill? You certainly don’t have to be an avid skier or even a fan of snow, for that matter. A summer wedding with a tented reception would be the perfect setting for those who love a blend of elegance and adventure. This venue has gorgeous options for both indoor and outdoor ceremonies or receptions, depending on the vibe you’re going for or the weather plans for the day. Plus, you won’t need to go off-site for photos, between the backdrop of the lodge, the ski hill, and the fun vintage vibes of the gallery wall inside the lodge.
